Former guests at the 5-star Hotel Zoo Berlin, which was built in 1891 and became the official VIP hotel of the Berlin International Film Festival during the 1950s, include Grace Kelly and Sophia Loren.
Rooms at the recently refurbished hotel, with rain showers and underfloor heating, are "unequivocally elegant" (The Independent). All rooms have views of either the interior courtyard or Kurfürstendamm, one of Berlin's most popular shopping streets and home to high-end and boutique shops, restaurants and bars.
The hotel's glamorous credentials are enhanced by a 22-metre jade-green catwalk carpet that leads to the reception and 7-metre-high floor-to-ceiling windows. There is also a lounge, a speakeasy-themed bar and a restaurant.
